Welcome
The President of Deafblind International
Benvenuti in Italia!
The president of Deafblind International welcomes all the new and old friends and colleagues to the 7th DbI European Conference in September 2009.
Our host, the Lega del Filo d`Oro, is actively preparing this event and have already started to create the scene for a wonderful experience.
The Lega has over the years organised many international events and those who have attended can bear witness to the quality of the programme, social events and the typical Italian hospitality.
The title of the conference “Tides, Waves and Currents in Research and Action” is in itself thought stimulating and will give the opportunity to reflect upon past, present and future actions in our field. The title of course, refers also to the natural beauty and closeness of the sea.
Our DbI conferences have shown themselves to be important moments of sharing, stimulation, learning and networking. Our membership has always put a high priority on bringing together all those significant in the quality of life of deafblind children and adults. The conference programme will provide something for all, just as diverse as the population itself.
Having first hand knowledge of the location and hospitality I am convinced the social setting and programme will satisfy the majority of all the participants needs. The location itself is a costal town in the beautiful Marche region, with possibilities for many various activities that I am sure participants can and will profit from.
I sincerely hope and look forward to seeing many familiar and new faces in Senigallia September 2009
So it only remains to say Arrivederci – See you in Senigallia!
Best wishes
William Green
President of Deafblind International
The Chairman of the Scientific Commmitte
7th DbI European Conference
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
As the Chair of the Scientific Committee, I have pleasure in inviting you to the 7th DbI European Conference entitled, “Tides, Waves and Currents in Research and Action”, to be held in Senigallia, Italy from the 22nd – 27th of September 2009.
The Scientific Committee has chosen this theme because it wants to offer participants who work with deafblind people, tools and strategies, which can enhance everyone’s daily life.
Within this vision, “tides” refers to the idea that all phases of life are influenced by changing circumstances. Research can help us find solutions to the situations which are encountered, until all the elements come together and find their natural balance.
“Currents” symbolise life’s dynamism and constant progress, as well as the energy that we must find at a physical emotional and cultural level necessary to work with deafblind people.
Finally “waves” represent significant moments which deafblind people may live through. However there is calm at the end of every storm, and the calm seas soothe us.
I look forward to welcoming many of you to Senigallia to what promises to be an exciting conference
Best wishes
Patrizia Ceccarani
Chair of the Scientific Committee
7th DbI European Conference
A Welcome from the General Secretary
of the Lega Del Filo d’Oro
It is with great pleasure that I invite you, on behalf of the Lega del Filo d’Oro, to attend the 7th DbI European Conference programmed for September 2009.
The “Lega” was founded in 1964, and it offers a wide range of services to Deafblind and multi-sensory impaired people and their families in many regions of Italy. It is indeed very proud to host this very important event in the beautiful Marches region and in particular the splendid coastal city of Senigallia.
It is a large responsibility to organise a conference of this magnitude and we take this task very seriously and are working very hard to ensure its success for the participants and to repay the honour of having our bid accepted by the Council of Deafblind International.
The fact that there will be so many delegates from leading organisations all over Europe is in itself a privilege and also reflects the confidence in our organization shown by experts from all the different areas within the field of deafblindness in the last 44 years.
To demonstrate our commitment to guaranteeing a successful outcome we are engaged in creating a scenario which will allow for a maximum of exchange, learning and sharing and also we hope some fun and enjoyment.
I and all the people involved in our services wish you well on your journey to Italy and we look forward to seeing you here in person in September.
In expectation of a wonderful occasion.
I remain yours sincerely
Rossano Bartoli
General Secretary Lega del Filo d’Oro
